Quantum Shell ("we", "us", "our") operates the quantum-shell.com website and game server hosting platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following information:

  • Account information: email address and password hash when you register
  • Billing information: payment details are processed and stored by Stripe; we do not store your card number
  • Server data: game server configurations, world files, backups, and uploaded content
  • Usage data: server start/stop events, login timestamps, and basic request logs

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Provide and operate the hosting service
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, billing notices)
  • Monitor and improve service reliability

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on infrastructure hosted in Europe (Germany) and North America (United States). Game server data and backups are stored in the region you select when creating a server; account and billing data is stored in our primary region (Europe). We use encryption in transit (TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your information. Game server backups are stored in encrypted object storage.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Hetzner — infrastructure hosting
  • Google — optional OAuth authentication (if you choose to sign in with Google)
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous traffic measurement on our public pages, loaded only with your consent. IP addresses are anonymised and we do not enable Google Signals or advertising features. The Analytics script is never loaded on the dashboard or any authenticated area.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (session ID) and security (CSRF token). With your consent, we also load Google Analytics 4 on our public pages, which sets _ga and _ga_* cookies (2-year expiry) to count unique visitors. You can reject these via the cookie banner; that preference is stored in your browser's localStorage and is honoured on every visit. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format

8. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. After account deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days. Server backups are deleted when the associated subscription ends, with a grace period of 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
